Forms of Eating Disorders

Eating disorders may be defined as ongoing disturbances of behaviour intended to control weight, which significantly impair health, wellbeing and functioning. They are conventionally divided into diagnostic categories based on clinical features. The three main diagnoses are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. In addition, there are similar presentations that fall just outside these three diagnoses. We will term these “other eating disorders”.
